24/10/09 Saturday morning and Edenderry’s under 17’s have their second home game in the Leinster League against Navan. Edenderry took the first score with a Penalty from the boot of Peter O’Neill after some great pressure from the pack. The awful conditions with high winds and steady rain forced Edenderry to keep the ball with their pack and through relentless pressure and some excellent use of the wind with the boot from O’Neill tries came from Shane Cronin and Earl Curry, topped off with another penalty from O’Neill the score stood at 16 – 0 to Edenderry at half time.
With the wind now at their backs Navan started the game with great pressure in Edenderry’s 22, but the derry defence stood strong and it took some time before their line was broken, putting Navan on the score sheet. Edenderry replied to this unconverted try with a try of their own through Shane Cronin. To bring the scores to 21 – 5 to Edenderry. Navan battered the Derry line for what seemed an age and took a converted try in the last minute of the game to set the score at 21 - 12 when the final whistle went, leaving the Derry side with their 4th win on the trot. Man of the match was Shane Cronin and most improved player of the week was Sean Doyle.
