Edenderry Under 16's Plate Champions..
Edenderry under 16 rugby team won the Leinster Plate final 15-3 against Wicklow in Newbridge Rugby Club last Saturday. Edenderry started the game slowly and for the first 10 minutes they were camped in their own 22' and were fortunate to only trail to a Mark Higgins penalty.
Slowly the Edenderry forwards started to get on top with D Moody, P Evans and A Tramontozzi applying huge pressure. After prolonged attacks R Holt kicked a fine penalty to level the game. Straight from the restart Edenderry attacked again and after fine work by S Cooney and I Curry - Robert Holt ran 30 yards to score under the posts, he also kicked the conversion.
Edenderry now sensed victory and after a fine move in which all the backs were involved Stephen Cooney scored in the corner just before the half time whistle.
The second half remained scoreless due to some fine tackles by A Munnelly, G Papageorios and some good kicking by S Feeney and R Holt. The Edenderry forwards were now in full control with big contributions from J McInerney, PJ Cormican and E Murphy.
The final whistle was greeted with much relief and Edenderry finished the season in style winning both the Midland League and The Plate.
