Edenderry 1st XV On a Winner!

Edenderry R.F.C. travelled to Creggs and got their 1st win of the season.  This was the first win in a long time for Edenderry’s 1st XV and was made all the sweeter with the team “staying over for some bonding” in Roscommon after the game.
In glorious sunshine, the first half saw Edenderry take the lead when Shane “bisto” Kelly scored a try which he converted himself.(7-0)this followed sustained pressure by the visitors and despite some Creggs pressure, Edenderry increased their lead to 14-0 when Tom Fawcett scored a good try. Shane Kelly converted. Poor defence let Creggs score before half time to leave it 14-5 at the break. The second half saw strong Edenderry defence against a resurgent Creggs outfit, but once they lifted the siege Edenderry reasserted themselves to take control. Further tries followed from David Hurst, Brian Rushe, and sub prop Pat Gill following a 5 yard dash for the line that left the cover floundering.

This was a good result for a team that needed a win more than anything else. Celebrations that occurred during an excellent social outing reflected the relief of the result all round.
